The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) College of Engineering and Computing - Industrial Engineering Position
Invites applicants for a full-time position in Industrial engineering starting Fall term 2024. Applicants should hold at least a Doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or related fields from preferably reputable American university. Competitive candidates will show a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching excellence in addition to having relevant industry experience. We invite applicants with teaching and research experience in the following areas:
Operations Research Modeling Methods
Quantitative Methods and Systems Optimization
Problem-solving and Decision-Making Methodologies
Computer Simulations of System Operations
Facility Planning and Design
Engineering Economics
Systems Design and Supply Chain Management
Quality Engineering
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Teach up to five courses per semester depending on the rank
Prepare course syllabus, plan lessons and assignments
Assess students’ progress by grading assignments, papers, exams, and other work
Advise students about which classes to take and how to achieve their goals
Work with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum for a degree or certificate program involving a series of courses
Stay informed about changes and innovations in their field
Invigilating examinations
Attending faculty meetings
General administration work in relation to teaching and assessments’ quality assurance
Writing research proposals, papers, and other publications
Supervising projects/thesis of students
Any other QA and academic related tasks
Requirements Qualifications and Experience required:
Ph. D. in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or terminal degree in related fields
Significant practical industry experience is a plus for this position
Experience in teaching in industrial engineering programs at the higher education level
Preference will be given to candidates with degrees from the United States and to those with teaching experience at a higher education level in the United States
Teaching experience in: Computing in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Economics, Operations Research, Quality Control, Production and Supply Chain Operations, Ergonomics, Simulation Modelling, Sustainable Engineering Practices, and any other research areas related to Industrial Engineering
Skills and Competencies required:
Strong communication and relationship building skills with peers, leadership, and external constituents, including the business community
Knowledge and experience of using learning management systems (LMS)
Demonstrate leadership aligned with AUBH core values of integrity, engagement, excellence, and desire to make a difference
